Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Refine Labs Ltd for your use of the Batchd app and our website, thebatchd.app. Please read them. By using Batchd, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Batchd.
Refine Labs Ltd is a private limited company registered in England and Wales. "We", "us" and "our" mean Refine Labs Ltd. You can contact us at support@thebatchd.app.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your personal information. It forms part of these terms.
1. Who can use Batchd
- You must be 18 or over.
- Batchd is for your own personal, non-commercial use.
- You must give accurate information about yourself, especially your body details, because your targets and plans depend on them.
2. What Batchd does, and what it doesn't
Batchd calculates daily calorie and protein targets from widely used formulas and the details you give us, then builds a meal plan, recipes and a shopping list around your goal, budget and supermarket.
Batchd is not medical advice. It doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it isn't a substitute for a doctor, dietitian or other health professional. In particular:
- Talk to your GP or doctor before making big changes to your diet, especially if you have a medical condition, take medication, or have ever had an eating disorder.
- Batchd never plans a calorie deficit for anyone who tells us they're pregnant or breastfeeding, or whose BMI is under 18.5, and never goes below 1,200 kcal (women) or 1,500 kcal (men) a day. These safety rules don't make Batchd suitable for medical diets.
- Calorie, protein and other nutrition figures are estimates calculated from ingredient data. Actual values vary with products, portions and cooking.
- Stop following a plan and get medical advice if you feel unwell.
3. Prices and supermarkets
- Prices in Batchd are estimates based on supermarket prices published online on the date shown in the app ("prices checked …"). Prices, promotions, loyalty prices and stock change, and in-store or convenience-store prices can be higher. Your actual shop may cost more or less.
- Batchd isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any supermarket. Supermarket names are trade marks of their owners and are used only to identify where prices come from.
- Batchd doesn't sell groceries. You buy them from the supermarket on its own terms.
4. Food safety and allergies
- Batchd removes recipes containing the allergens you tell us about, but we can't guarantee any product or recipe is free from allergens. Recipes and products change, and cross-contamination can happen. Always check product labels.
- Follow the storage, cooling and reheating guidance in the app and on product packaging. Cook food until it's steaming hot all the way through, cool cooked food and refrigerate it within 2 hours, eat refrigerated leftovers within the time shown in the app, and reheat food only once.
- You're responsible for preparing, storing and eating food safely.
5. Your account
- You can use Batchd without an account, or sign in with Apple, Google or email to save your plan across devices.
- Keep your sign-in details secure. Tell us at support@thebatchd.app if you think someone else has used your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings > Delete my account. This deletes your data as described in our Privacy Policy. It doesn't cancel your App Store subscription.
6. Subscriptions, free trials and billing
- Batchd needs a paid subscription. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store, under Apple's terms, and charged to your Apple ID.
- The current prices, billing periods and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy. Prices may vary by country.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions.
- Free trials: if you start a free trial, your subscription starts and you're charged the full price when the trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. We'll remind you before your trial ends if you've allowed notifications, or by email if you've given us your email address.
- If we change the subscription price, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask you to agree to the new price before it applies.
7. Cancelling and refunds
- Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. To help Apple handle a request, we may share limited information with Apple about your use of Batchd and your purchases.
- Your legal rights are not affected. If you're a consumer in the UK, you have rights under consumer law, including rights to cancel and to a refund in some situations, such as when a free trial converts to a paid subscription or when digital content is faulty. Nothing in these terms takes those rights away.
8. Using Batchd responsibly
You agree not to:
- copy, resell, scrape or redistribute Batchd's recipes, plans, prices or other content;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or interfere with the app or its systems, except where the law allows;
- use automated tools to access Batchd;
- use Batchd for anything unlawful, or in a way that could harm us, other users or third parties;
- share your account with others or use someone else's.
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
9. Our content
Batchd, including its software, design, recipes, plans, text and images (other than supermarket names and product data), belongs to Refine Labs Ltd or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Batchd on Apple devices you own or control, for your own use, while these terms apply.
Some recipe images are AI-generated and marked "Serving suggestion". Your food may look different.
10. Your content
Notes, ratings and other content you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and use them to run Batchd for you. If you send us feedback or ideas, we can use them without paying you.
11. Other services
Batchd relies on services from other companies, including Apple (App Store, sign-in, notifications), Google (sign-in, if you use it) and our data and analytics providers. Their own terms apply to your use of their services, and we aren't responsible for them.
12. Changes to Batchd and these terms
- We improve Batchd over time and may add, change or remove features. If we make a change that significantly reduces what you've paid for, we'll tell you, and you can cancel.
- We may update these terms, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. We'll update this page and tell you in the app about important changes before they apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using Batchd and cancel your subscription.
13. Our responsibility to you
- If we fail to comply with these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that's a foreseeable result of our breach or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We aren't responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable.
- Batchd is for personal use. We aren't responsible for any loss of profit, business or business opportunity.
- We don't limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit or exclude, including your rights as a consumer.
- Subject to the paragraph above, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Batchd in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
14. Ending these terms
You can stop using Batchd at any time and delete your account. Remember to cancel your subscription with Apple. Sections 3, 4, 9, 10, 13 and 16 continue to apply after these terms end.
15. Apple
These terms are between you and Refine Labs Ltd, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Batchd or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Batchd. If Batchd fails to meet any applicable warranty, you can tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple isn't responsible for any claims relating to Batchd, including product liability claims, claims that Batchd fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, or claims that Batchd infringes someone's intellectual property; we're responsible for those to the extent these terms say so. You confirm you're not in a country subject to a US government embargo and not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you.
16. Law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring claims in your local courts; otherwise the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
- If you live outside the UK, you also keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws where you live.
- If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@thebatchd.app. We'll try to resolve it quickly and fairly.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
